On-line Training
RACGP has confirmed that they will provide a FREE online cultural awareness training course to all members, other practice staff and all participants in the RACGP Quality Assurance & Continuing Professional Development (QA & CPD) system in October. Participation in this training will allow practices to meet the Aboriginal Health Incentive PIP requirements.
The preparation of the course will be informed by extensive consultation with the Indigenous community.
Local Training
RACGP will manage the application and endorsement process for localised cultural safety training providers as an extension of the RACGP's QA &CPD Framework. RACGP is encouraging the action learning approach and the inclusion of local content and presenters as well as addressing cultural safety issues in practices. The cultural safety criteria for these courses will be published in September.
In the meantime, several courses have already been approved by RACGP for QA/CPD points. These can be viewed at: http://www.racgp.org.au/QACPD.
Individual Active Learning Module (ALM)
Individual GPs may apply to complete an individual Active Learning Module (ALM) for which they will gain Category 1 QA&CPD points. The forms and guidelines can be viewed at: http://www.racgp.org.au/qacpd/20082010triennium/gpforms
All programs will be reviewed against the RACGP cultural safety standards as well as the existing QA&CPD criteria, once the standards have been finalised.
