MEDIA RELEASE - Health Scholarship Winners Announced!
Ranges Community Health together with in conjunction with Eastern Ranges GP Association and the Yarra Ranges Council has invested in the local community by awarding FOUR Tertiary Health Scholarships to residents of the Shire of Yarra Ranges.
Eastern Ranges GP Association and Ranges Community Health sponsored Major Awards, and this year saw the inclusion of a Mayoral Community Encouragement Award sponsored by the Yarra Ranges Council. The scholarship applications were open to current or intending students in Nursing, Medicine or other Health Science at an Australian Tertiary institution. In 2010, two major awards, each worth $3,000 have been made and, in addition, two encouragement awards of $1,000.
Kristin Michaels, Chief Executive Officer of the Association, said, "the Awards attracted applicants from all over the Shire and the quality of the applicants just keeps getting higher.
"Eastern Ranges GP Association is proud to be a part of these Awards and congratulates Gerard Harrop, the winner of the major Award sponsored by the Association. "We're very pleased to be able to support him to achieve his dreams, and ultimately to provide quality health services to our community".
The successful recipients demonstrated outstanding scholastic achievements as well as being active participants within the community.
Ranges Community Health, Eastern Ranges GP Association and Yarra Ranges Council are honoured to be able to assist them in fulfilling their chosen course at university and wish them well.
Award winners will be presented with their Awards by Yarra Ranges Council Mayor, Len Cox, on Friday 26 February 2010 at 2.00pm at Ranges Community Health Service in Lilydale.
