Medical Practitioners Medical Panel
The Convenor of the Medical panel is seeking EOI from medical practitioners who wish to be appointed to the Medical Panels by the Governor in Council .Appointments will be for a term not exceeding 3 years commencing 1st July 2010.
The Medical Panels are constituted under the Accident Compensation Act 1985 and the Wrongs Acti 1958 to provide independent and conclusive medical opinions pertaining to claims by WorkCover and Personal Injury compensation.
Panel members much be appropriately qualified medical practitioners who are able to provide independent high quality medical assessments in their speciality and in cooperation with other panel members, develop a comprehensive Medical Panel opinion and reasons in relation to the referred questions.
EOI will be assessed against the following criteria:
- Appropriate qualifications with at least 10 years specialist experience
- High professional standing
- Demonstrated commitment to high standards of objectivity independence and patient care
- Agreement to participate in peer review and appropriate continuing medical education during theterm of the appointment
- Ability and willingness to undertake training and conduct impairment assessments in accordance with the AMA Guides in the evaluation of Permanent Impairment (second and fourth editions).
EOI are sought from medical practitioners in active clinical practice in Victoria, particularly orthopaedics, surgeons, neuro-surgeons, plastic and reconstructive surgeons. Fees payable to panel members will reflect the responsibility and professional standing of the appointed.
