Health Practitioner Regulation National Law (Victoria) Act 2009

This legislation supports the National Registration for Health Practitioners which will come into effect 1 July 2010 for certain professions with gradual extension to other professions. Under the act, employers of health professionals have certain responsibilities. Divisions and other employers of health professionals should become aware of their new responsibilities.

Professional Development for Nurses

With the introduction of this legislation, the Nurses Board of Victoria developed Guidelines for Nurses and Midwives for Continuing Professional Development. These guidelines outline the principles for CPD, and enabled nurses and midwives time to develop their professional portfolios.

Nurses and midwives will be required to provide their professional portfolio for the last 12 months.
