Indigenous Health PIP Update

 

On-line registration for IH PIP ... Practices who have signed up for online PIP registration can use this service to register patients for the IH PIP. This online system will flag if a patient has already registered with another clinic. 

Re-registration for Chronic Disease Management component of the IH PIP ... Practices must re-register for this component of the PIP each calendar year. Medicare is accepting re-registrations for 2011 from 1 November 2010. Patients who have registered for CDM must also re-register each calendar year. CTG Scripts for patients registered at another clinic ... GPs can annotate prescriptions for all patients who have registered for the PBS Co-payment measure, even if they have registered at another clinic.

Specialists and Scripts ... Specialists can annotate prescriptions for patients who have registered for the PBS Co-payment measure. To facilitate this process, note in the referral letter that the patient has self-identified as being Aboriginal or Torres Strait Islander and has registered for the PBS co-payment.

Nurse items ... Practice Nurses can provide each patient who has received an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health check with 10 follow-up services per calendar year (item number 10987). The rebate for each of these services is $22.70.

Allied Health items ... Each patient who has received an Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander health check qualifies for 5 MBS allied health rebates (item numbers 81300 to 81360) in addition to the 5 MBS allied health rebates that can be claimed under a care plan.
