General Practice Liaison (GPL) Program
Our General Practice Liaison Program (GPL) has been established in conjunction with Eastern Health to improve communication between General Practitioners and hospitals.
The Program endeavours to ensure that communication happens promptly and is focused on the person and their care needs. Multidisciplinary liaison meetings are held with each hospital and an overarching Eastern Health GP Liaison Steering Committee coordinates activities across all Eastern Health sites. We also provide opportunities for GPs to improve their skills through a series of practical education forums.
Recent activities include:
- Ongoing engagement with Maroondah Hospital, principally through the Communications Working Group. This group includes representatives from Medicine, Outpatients, Emergency Department, Health Information Services and others as required.
- GP satisfaction survey
- Hospital discharge summary audit
- GP referral audit
- Emergency Scenarios education for GPs
- Fracture Management skills development for GPs
For queries relating to the GPL program, please contact Greg Poynter, GP Liaison Officer, on 9871 1000.
