Immunisation

For ERGPA the major focus of the immunisation program is to support general practices and encourage participation of general practitioners in the General Practice Immunisation Incentive (GPII) scheme as part of the National Immunisation Program (NIP).

The aim of the Immunisation program is to enhance the quality of immunisation services and improve immunisation rates within the Division to achieve the national objective of having at least 90% of children less than seven years of age fully vaccinated.

Our Immunisation Program offers GPs and practice staff education and support in the maintenance of Cold Chain, accessing the general Practice Immunisation Incentive Program (GPII), ACIR reports and keeping practices up to date with any changes in the immunisation schedule and related protocols.

The program offers:

  • Practice visits to GPs
  • Phone advice
  • ACIR reporting, education and data cleansing assistance to improve practice coverage rates and income
  • Dissemination of resources
  • Educational Seminars
  • Improving and maximizing practice access to GPII payments
  • Assistance to practices to identify children overdue for immunisations
  • improved immunisation rates
  • Advice regarding Cold Chain management and the current immunisation schedule
  • Cold chain audits/visits
  • Data logging of fridges used to store vaccines
  • Current immunisation resources including vaccine schedule updates, helpful links, posters, brochures and instruction manuals.
